Former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has requested the Federal High Court in Abuja to modify her lawsuit.

The case challenges the order obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the final forfeiture of her assets.

During the resumed hearing, no legal representative appeared on behalf of the EFCC. Justice Inyang Ekwo asked Alison-Madueke’s lawyer if they had received documents from the EFCC, and the lawyer confirmed they had. The lawyer also informed the court that a motion to amend their documents had been filed and that the EFCC had been properly served.

Justice Ekwo adjourned the case until February 17, 2025, to consider the motion regarding the amendment of the lawsuit.

Alison-Madueke is seeking more time to apply for permission to challenge the EFCC’s public notice on the sale of her property. She claimed she was not given a fair hearing in the proceedings leading to the orders on her asset forfeiture.

The EFCC, however, denied most of the claims in her suit, arguing that the majority of the cases that led to the forfeiture of the disputed property had already been heard and resolved by the court.
