National Assembly Debunks Tinubu 2025 Budget Presentation Claims
The National Assembly has refuted claims that President Bola Tinubu would present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session on Wednesday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Mr. Bullah Bi-Allah, Director of Information for the National Assembly’s Secretary of Research and Information (SR&I), dismissed the reports as “fake, baseless, and unfounded.” He urged the public and media to verify facts before publishing, warning that such false information could lead to unnecessary confusion.
The statement comes at a time of growing anticipation for the 2025 budget presentation, a critical fiscal document expected to outline the government’s priorities for the year ahead. Addressing the issue, Bi-Allah explained, “The attention of the Secretary, Research and Information (SR&I), National Assembly, Dr. Ali Barde Umoru, has been drawn to the purported fake news credited to him.”
He further advised that any official inquiries regarding National Assembly matters should be directed through established communication channels.
Bi-Allah also highlighted that the National Assembly has not yet approved the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper. He explained that the approval of the MTEF is a prerequisite before the formal presentation of the 2025 budget.
The statement concluded with a warning to those spreading misinformation, urging them to stop using the SR&I office to mislead the public.
