Danlami Abdullahi Saku, the Chairman of Katcha Local Government Area in Niger State has passed away following a fatal road accident.

The incident occurred in the evening of Tuesday, December 10, 2024, near Kwakuti village along the Minna-Suleja road. Saku was traveling to Abuja for an event, accompanied by two passengers, who sustained varying injuries in the crash.

The news of his death was confirmed by Muazu Hamidu Jantabo, the State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in an official statement released on Wednesday morning.

Jantabo expressed deep sorrow over the loss, saying, “It is with deep sadness but total submission to the will of Allah that I, on behalf of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, send my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and people of Katcha Local Government Area over the sudden and tragic loss of the Chairman, Hon. Danlami Abdullahi Saku.”

The statement continued, noting the immense loss of not just a leader but a dedicated figure in local development: “The shocking news of his passing in a motor accident along the Minna-Abuja road yesterday, 10th December 2024, is a great loss not only to his loved ones but to the entire state. Hon. Saku was a committed leader whose dedication and service to the development of Katcha Local Government will be remembered for years to come.”
