The incident occurred at Isieke Junction, where the fuel tanker caught fire under unclear circumstances with a remarkable response from the driver.

Witnesses reported that instead of abandoning the vehicle, the Tanker driver displayed remarkable bravery by maneuvering it to a safer location, away from homes and businesses.

A video shared on social media captures the intense moment, showing the tanker engulfed in flames as the driver made his courageous effort to avoid casualties. The act has earned him widespread praise, with many describing him as a hero for prioritizing the safety of others.

Meanwhile, the news of the heroic act of the fuel tanker driver in Ebonyi came as the state governor, Francis Nwifuru has said that 2025 will be marked by unprecedented development, growth and massive transformation of all parts of the state.

Nwifuru made the declaration in a New Year message to his people on Tuesday in Abakaliki and issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.

The governor said he would prioritise policies and programmes that would promote inclusive development and foster economic opportunities for the benefit of the people.
