Controversy Deepens Over Abel Damina’s Alcohol, Smoking Sermon (Video)

Apostle Abel Damina, a popular Nigerian cleric, has stirred significant controversy following remarks he made during a sermon to his congregation.

In his sermon, Abel Damina, founder of Power City International, boldly stated that consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes are not sins.

“Adam and Eve ate nothing; they didn’t eat anything. Were you there? You cannot be a sinner by eating something. Alcohol is not a sin, cigar is not a sin,” Damina proclaimed in his sermon during the service.

However, the apostle clarified his stance, warning that while smoking and drinking might not be sinful, they come with severe consequences. “The fact that I said cigarettes and alcohol are not sins does not mean you should indulge in them. Smoking can cut your life short, and drinking can take you into the gutter,” he cautioned.

Despite his explanation, netizens have taken to social media to criticize Damina’s remarks. Many labeled him as lacking spiritual depth, accusing him of interpreting matters from a human perspective rather than a spiritual one.

@hugh_gidi: Disobedience to God is a Sin. God instructed Adam and Eve NOT to eat from that particular tree and they disobeyed him hence, they sinned against God by disobeying him. I know a clueless prophet whose words and utterances aren’t inspired by the Holy Spirit when I see one.
