The ongoing rift between Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former record label, EeZee Conceptz, has taken a dramatic turn as the label’s founder fired back with a detailed statement defending his actions and revealing the financial dealings behind their collaboration.

In a strongly worded response, the EeZee Conceptz boss addressed the allegations of exploitation and contract violations that have recently been levied against him by the singer. He vehemently defended his role in the partnership, revealing that during Chinwo’s time with the label, she was paid over $625,000 under a contract that specified a 50/50 split of gross earnings.

“For years, you received both quarterly royalties and immediate remittances as per the terms of our agreement, yet this ongoing greed and betrayal are simply unfathomable,” the label founder stated.

He further recounted a painful personal experience, revealing that he was illegally detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for nine days, during which $274,000 was allegedly extorted from him. Despite this, he claimed that he refrained from publicly airing his grievances, choosing instead to seek legal remedies to address the injustice.

The EeZee Conceptz boss also took aim at Chinwo’s portrayal of their relationship, accusing her of attempting to manipulate public perception. “You’d rather conceal the fact that you desperately pursued me for years and even had to get third parties to convince EeZee Conceptz to sign you,” he said.

In a pointed challenge, he called on Chinwo to release her bank statements to shed light on her contributions to her music career prior to joining the label, suggesting that the public deserved to see the full financial picture.

The label founder expressed disappointment over the public fallout, stating that his original intention was always to nurture Chinwo’s career and ministry, not to exploit her. He also emphasized that their partnership was built on mutual respect and understanding, making the current situation all the more disheartening.

As the battle between the gospel singer and her former label continues to unfold, the public eagerly awaits any further developments in this high-profile dispute.
