Famous Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has opened up about her early struggles in the film industry, revealing that she used to borrow clothes from her colleague, Sikiratu Sindodo, to look stylish on movie sets.

She shared this while discussing the challenges she faced before gaining success in her career. Currently on vacation in Ghana with actress Eniola Badmus and content creator Kamo, Funke expressed how her past difficulties now serve as motivation for others.

In a viral video posted on her Snapchat, Funke acknowledged the significant support she received from her colleagues, Sikiratu Sindodo and Iyabo Ojo, in her rise to fame. Recalling her humble beginnings, Funke shared her story during a conversation with her close friend, Eniola Badmus.

“They didn’t give us any roles. One of those men, I just keep looking at him, but I won’t mention his name,” Funke began. She went on to share how she would borrow clothes from Sindodo for movie sets. “I remember back then when I used to borrow dresses from Tayo Sindodo. Sindodo would help me choose nice ones from her tops if I was going to a movie set.”

Funke Akindele also recalled a moment when Sindodo saw her carrying a bag after not being given a role and decided to take action. “There was a day when Sindodo saw me carrying a bag after I wasn’t given a role, and she went to meet Uncle Abbey to fight for me.”

Funke further shared how Iyabo Ojo’s kindness helped them during tough times. “Iyabo Ojo was lucky and very nice to us. Iyabo would say, ‘Don’t worry,’ and she would drive us around in her small red car. We found solace in one another. That’s how we became friends. Iyabo used to stand up and fight for me.”
