More Confusion In Osun As Court Gives New Order On LG Election
By Gideon Ayeni

The Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa has directed the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to proceed with the conduct of local government elections across the 30 local government areas of the state.
The ruling, delivered on Friday, February 21, 2025, followed a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one of the political parties participating in the election.
The new order by the Osun High court comes barely 24 hours after the Federal government adviced Governor Ademola Adeleke to halt the election.
With this court order, OSSIEC is now set to further complicate the judicial intrigues that have engulfed the proposal to conduct local government elections in the state.
GWG.ng had earlier reported the order by the Court of Appeal granting the prayers of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the reinstatement of local government chairmen and councilors who were installed after former Governor Gboyega Oyetola lost the last governorship election.
