A horrific case of domestic violence has shocked residents of Edo State after a man, identified as Kelvin Izekor, allegedly murdered his newly wedded pregnant wife, Success Izekor, in cold blood with hammer while she was asleep.
According to Nigerian news reports, Kelvin, who had a history of physically abusing Success even before their marriage in June 2024, attacked her with a hammer, smashing her head before repeatedly stabbing her in the neck and waist. Some accounts suggest he may have even hung her from the ceiling before killing her.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday after the couple reportedly had a misunderstanding. Believing the matter had been resolved, Success went to bed, only for Kelvin to carry out the brutal attack.
In a desperate attempt to cover up the crime, Kelvin locked the room and told her family she was missing. He carried on with his daily activities as though nothing had happened. By Saturday night, he allegedly attempted to dispose of her body by hiring a vehicle to transport it to an undisclosed location, where he planned to claim she had died in an accident.

However, his suspicious behavior raised concerns when he approached a local chemist, claiming his wife had died and that he wanted to take her to the mortuary. The chemist, finding the request unusual, insisted on accompanying him, along with other community members.
Upon arriving at his residence, they discovered Success’ lifeless body with a crushed skull and multiple stab wounds. The gruesome sight sparked outrage, and the community immediately attempted to execute jungle justice on Kelvin. However, police intervened just in time, struggling to control the enraged crowd before eventually taking him into custody.
Now in police detention, Kelvin is reportedly claiming he has mental health issues in what many believe is an attempt to escape justice.
Friends of the deceased revealed that they had repeatedly warned Success about Kelvin’s violent tendencies. Even three days before their wedding, he allegedly attacked her with a cutlass, injuring her palm. Despite the red flags, she remained in the marriage, convinced by love.
Heartbreakingly, on the night of her death, Success had reportedly tried to leave the house and even called her sister. Unfortunately, she never made it out alive.
The police have assured the public that justice will be served, as investigations into the brutal murder continue.
