A Pakistani man has been charged with murder after he allegedly killed a WhatsApp group admin who removed him from the chat after an argument.
A man in Pakistan has been accused of murder after he reportedly killed the admin of a community WhatsApp group for removing him from the chat.
The tragic incident took place on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region near Afghanistan known for past sectarian violence.
According to police records, a man identified only as Ashfaq has been formally charged with the murder of Mushtaq Ahmed. The case came to light after Mushtaq’s brother filed a statement, which was reviewed by authorities.
Reports indicate that the conflict started when Mushtaq removed Ashfaq from the WhatsApp group following an argument. Hoping to settle their differences, both men agreed to meet in person. However, instead of reconciliation, Ashfaq allegedly arrived with a gun and fatally shot Mushtaq.
The statement further suggests that Ashfaq acted out of anger over being removed from the WhatsApp group.
Incidents like this are not uncommon in the region, where easy access to firearms, deep-rooted tribal customs, and weak law enforcement contribute to violent disputes.
