Gov Mbah Lauds DSS For Arresting Five High- Profile Kidnap Suspects
By Benjamin Abioye

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for its recent success in apprehending five notorious kidnappers who had been operating within the state’s forests.
Acting on reliable intelligence, DSS operatives launched a coordinated operation on Wednesday, tracking the suspects to their hideouts in two different locations within Enugu State. The arrested individuals are believed to be part of a criminal network responsible for a series of kidnappings in Udi Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to extorting large sums of money from the families of their victims as ransom. Additionally, three other individuals, identified as key members of a separate kidnapping syndicate, were captured on Friday in the state capital.
At the time of their arrest, authorities recovered substantial amounts of cash—believed to be proceeds from their criminal activities—along with lethal weapons and other dangerous items.
Governor Mbah, after being briefed on the details of the arrests, commended the DSS for its strategic and covert operations. While withholding specific details for security reasons, he assured the public that security agencies, including the DSS, military, police, and the state-owned Forest Guards, have intensified efforts to track down remaining gang members.
He further emphasized that ongoing operations would continue to dismantle criminal hideouts and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
