Worldcoin And Visa In Talks To Enable Stablecoin Payments

Worldcoin, a company co-founded by Sam Altman, is in talks with Visa to introduce stablecoin payment features in its wallet.
This move is part of its broader vision to expand beyond identity verification by incorporating financial services such as foreign exchange (FX) transactions and crypto-based payments.
The discussions follow the recent launch of World Chat, an encrypted messaging platform that allows users to send and receive cryptocurrency within the Worldcoin network. The new integration with Visa aims to transform the wallet into a “mini bank account,” supporting both fiat and stablecoin transactions. With Visa’s extensive merchant network, users would be able to make purchases using stablecoins at retail locations globally.
Visa has been actively embracing stablecoins since 2021, beginning with a pilot program that enabled USDC settlements with Crypto.com over the Ethereum blockchain. Since then, the company has expanded its stablecoin capabilities by integrating them into cross-border transactions and partnering with payment providers like Worldpay and Nuvei. More recently, Visa incorporated Solana’s blockchain to enhance transaction speed and reduce costs.
Given that Visa’s treasury system already supports stablecoin reconciliation and currency conversion, integrating with blockchain wallets like World Network’s would be a seamless process. This would significantly enhance the usability of stablecoin payments in everyday transactions.
Tools for Humanity, the company behind Worldcoin’s development, has reportedly submitted proposals to card issuers as part of its plan to enable Visa card functionality in World Network wallets. Additionally, the company is in discussions with Rain, a crypto card service backed by Coinbase and Circle, to create a comprehensive wallet solution that supports FX trading and crypto payments on a single platform.
If the collaboration with Visa materializes, it could give Worldcoin a strong competitive edge over other crypto wallets by providing users with seamless access to Visa’s global merchant ecosystem along with advanced fintech features.
