PDP Appoints New Administrative Officer For South-South Zonal Secretariat
By Imman Onyero

The National Vice Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the South South Zone, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has officially appointed Mr. Oba Robert as the new Administrative Officer for the Zonal Secretariat located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A statement issued by the South-South Zonal Secretary, Mr George Turnah disclosed that the appointment was with immediate effective.
GWG.ng reports that Chief Orbih was recently elected as the South-South zonal chairman of the PDP, albeit with reservations with a section of the national leadership of the party which sought to upturn the zonal congress. However, that move has met with stiff challenge following judicial interventions initiated by the Orbih leadership.
GWG.ng further reports that the South-South zone remains the strongest stronghold of the PDP with the party controlling four of the six states in the zone.
The appointment of the new administrative officer follows the move in February when the South-South Zonal Executive Committee of the PDP suspended its Zonal Secretary, Felix Omemu, for one month.
His suspension followed allegations of misconduct and the issuance of unauthorized statements to the media.
Omemu had earlier declared the meeting of the South-South ZEC, held in Benin, Edo State, as illegal. In a statement from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, he argued that the meeting was unconstitutional because it did not have approval from the Zonal Working Committee.
