A Nigerian woman living in the UK has publicly apologized to her husband’s daughter on TikTok, promising to treat her as her own after a viral confrontation over the discovery.

A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom, who previously went viral for confronting her husband after discovering he had another daughter, has made a dramatic change of heart.

In a new video posted on TikTok, she has publicly apologized and promised to accept the young girl, Chioma, into her family.

In the video, Chisom Chukwu, the woman involved, sits next to Chioma and expresses regret for her previous actions. She admits that her anger had been misdirected and assures everyone that she never intended to harm Chioma. “I have accepted Chioma as my daughter,” Chukwu says in the video. “I’m really sorry for putting her out there. I didn’t mean to. It was out of anger, and I know that the anger was not targeted at her. I am very sorry. I’m not ashamed to say I’m sorry to her, because she is my daughter.”

Chukwu went on to say, “I will treat her just like I’m going to treat my own children. I love her so much. I promise to treat her right. She’s going to stay here with me.”

While many viewers applauded Chukwu’s apology, not all reactions were positive. Some were worried about the way she interacted with Chioma in the video. @Tshawekazi pointed out, “Chioma tries to hug you and you are resisting the hug. I’m sorry, Madam, I don’t trust you around Chioma again.” Another commenter, @Rei_Rei_1924, shared a similar concern, saying, “Chioma is showing the blinking sign, guys… she’s in trouble.”

Others were more sympathetic, suggesting that Chukwu’s actions were driven by the complexity of the situation. @Adaoma defended her, saying, “I can see the level of hatred from people’s comments, but you guys forgot that the whole family of the husband, including Chioma, lied to this woman… cut her some slack abeg…” @Blessed Sarah focused on the importance of love, writing, “In life, it doesn’t really matter the relationship that is connecting us, let’s be conscious of how we treat people. Life is short, and the way to eternal life is love.”

However, some commenters, like @Honey, remained skeptical, stating, “She is not sorry. Why do you refuse her hugs? Today is Chioma, but no one knows tomorrow, Madam.” @dominix expressed concern for Chioma’s well-being, saying, “This girl has been through a lot. Imagine pretending to be a niece at your father’s house.”

The video, and the reactions it has sparked, show how complicated family dynamics can be, especially when secrets are involved. Chukwu’s apology has certainly left many with mixed feelings about whether the situation can truly be healed, and whether Chioma will ever feel fully accepted in her new family.

In a separate but equally interesting turn of events, Chukwu had previously sparked another conversation when she sought a second wife for her husband, listing conditions and reasons for her preference for polygamy. This public openness about relationships has kept many people intrigued about her views on family and marriage.

While the story of Chioma’s acceptance is far from over, the emotional complexities of the situation continue to capture the attention of Nigerians both online and offline.
