A heartbreaking video making the rounds on social media has captured the emotional breakdown of a Nigerian woman who lost her life savings to the now-defunct investment platform, CBEX.

The woman, identified simply as Bolarinwa, was seen crying uncontrollably outside the gate of the CBEX office, devastated by the collapse of the scheme that had promised massive returns in just 30 days. According to her, the funds she invested were earnings she had toiled for during her years working in Libya, hoping to start a new life back home.

“I used my own $200 to invest, then I collected money from my friends to add to it,” she lamented in the viral clip. She revealed that it was her neighbor who introduced her to the investment opportunity shortly after she returned to Nigeria.

With promises of quick returns and what many believed was a reliable structure, CBEX attracted thousands of Nigerians desperate for financial breakthroughs. However, the scheme recently crashed, wiping out millions in investors’ funds and leaving scores of people like Bolarinwa in deep distress.

The video has triggered a wave of reactions online, with many sympathizing with her and others calling for stricter regulation of online financial schemes. Some netizens also questioned how such platforms continue to thrive in the country despite similar scams in the past.

As victims continue to share their stories, the CBEX saga has once again exposed the growing vulnerability of everyday Nigerians to fraudulent investment schemes fueled by poverty, desperation, and lack of oversight.
