Why Tinubu Will Not Spend Easter In Nigeria – Presidency
By Gideon Ayeni

In a statement released on April 17, 2025, the Office of the President assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in the governance of the country, despite his current temporary absence in Europe.
The President’s two-week absence, which began with his departure from Paris to London over the weekend, has been closely coordinated with the needs of the country’s governance, the statement emphasized.
According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President has maintained consistent communication with key government officials, ensuring the continuation of his leadership. This includes overseeing critical national matters and issuing directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in certain regions of the country.
“His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks,” Onanuga said, further reassuring the public that the President’s return to Nigeria will occur following the Easter holiday.
The statement highlighted that despite the President’s physical absence, governance continues to function smoothly under his leadership. Nigerians were assured that there will be no interruption in the administration’s duties, with the President’s commitment to national welfare remaining steadfast.
The statement also expressed gratitude to the public for their concern and reiterated that the government continues to prioritize the security and well-being of the nation.
