Flamingos ₦6 Million Victory Algeria

Nigeria’s Under-17 Women’s football team, the Flamingos, were rewarded with a total of six million Naira for their impressive performance in a recent match.

In the first leg of the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying round, the Flamingos delivered a dominant 4-0 victory over Algeria.

Queen Joseph was a standout player in the match, scoring two goals that played a key role in securing the win. Zainab Raji and Aishat Animashaun also contributed, each netting a goal to complete the team’s strong offensive display under coach Bankole Olowookere.

To recognize their achievement, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) awarded the team two million Naira, while well-known businessman Kunle Soname added an extra 4 million Naira to the reward.

The Flamingos are now preparing for the second leg of the qualification match, which will take place in Bilda, Algeria, on Friday. The outcome of this match is vital, as the winner will earn a spot in the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

The 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in Morocco, marking the first time the tournament will take place in Africa. This will also be the first edition to feature 24 teams, and the competition will be held annually from now on.
