Ambode Reacts To Tinubu Snub
Three weeks after the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu claimed he led Lagos in the wrong direction, the immediate past former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode has responded.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Pen Cinema flyover in Lagos three weeks ago, Asiwaju Tinubu had opened up on why the party in Lagos decided to stop Ambode from a second term.
He said:
“Sometimes in 2017-2018, the ship of this state seems to have headed in a very wrong direction. History had it that we came together, an election came and we chose a democratically-elected government of the people, our people, and for the people. They say ‘who is Babajide Sanwo-Olu’? We said, ‘you will find out’.
“Ever since Babajide became the captain of the ship of our state, he has turned it round to the right direction of progress, development, and good leadership quality.”
Though the Pen Cinema flyover was commenced by Ambode, the former governor was practically ignored during the commissioning.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG also reports that the same fate also befell Babajide Fashola, Ambode’s predecessor who started and practically completed the Ikorodu Road but was also not acknowledged at the commissioning of the road by Ambode in 2015.
After being shoved aside as governor, Ambode bounced back to political reckoning on Sunday when he was named as a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s contact and strategy committee.
Following his public chastisement by Tinubu there is little doubt that the appointment did not receive the endorsment of the national leader of the APC.
Reacting to the development in his first tweet since leaving office, Ambode said on Tuesday that it was a call to serve the party and the nation.
“Along with other notable and distinguished colleagues, I was today selected by our party, the All Progressives Congress, to be a member of the Contact and Strategy Committee. This is a call to serve the Party and more importantly, our nation.”
