The total number of COVID-19 cases in Nigeria exceeded 55,000 on Sunday after 100 new cases of the pandemic were reported in nine states and the FCT.
The increase in the number of cases was, however, mollified by the reducing spread of the disease with Sunday being the fewest number of states to have reported cases in months.
The highest number of cases were in Lagos 39, FCT 22 and Kaduna 19.
The 100 new cases shot the number of incidents to 55,005 with 43,017 recovered from the disease and another 1,057 having died from the disease.
