My Problems Marrying My Daughter To A Nigerian, Kenya’s Deputy President (Video)
Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has said that it was not easy for him giving his daughter, June to be married to Nigerian academic, Dr Alexander Ezenagu.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that June Ruto and Dr Ezenagu were married on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at a colourful ceremony in the Deputy President’s residence in Karen, a suburb of Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.
Kenya’s Deputy President, Mr Ruto while speaking at the reception following the exchange of vows joked that it was not easy for him giving away his daughter to a Nigerian and an Igbo man considering his experience with an Igbo man that the government had to deport from Kenya over misconduct.
“It is both an exciting and anxious moment. It is not easy as a parent to give away your daughter. It is much more difficult if you are giving away your daughter to Nigerians,” the Kenyan Deputy President said.
“It is much more difficult when you are giving your daughter to Ibos (people living chiefly in southeastern Nigeria who speak Igbo),” said the DP as the crowd burst into laughter.
“Because when I first met Alex I told him a story of a guy called Chinedu who gave us a lot of trouble and I was told that man was an Igbo.
“So you can understand…this Chinedu fellow gave us so much trouble that we deported him to Nigeria and when we deported him he refused to get out of the aeroplane in Lagos for two days. Even after leaving him there we found him in Kenya.”
June holds a degree in International Communication and is presently a diplomat serving as Kenya’s Charge D’Affairs in Poland. Dr Ezenagu an international expert in taxation is an assistant professor of Taxation and Commercial Law at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar.
Cracking a joke as to how his daughter met her Nigerian husband, Kenya’s Deputy President, Ruto had said:
“My daughter June Ruto works with the Foreign Affairs and she got a foreigner to be her spouse. In whatever plan, have God in the equation.”
The guests at the wedding included Kenya’s political elite with representations from Nigeria.
