Video Emerges How Deborah Was Killed By School Mates At Shehu Shagari College

The video of how Deborah Yakubu, the female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education was killed has emerged. The emergence of the video came as Sultanate Council on Thursday condemned the act and called for the prosecution of those responsible for the killing.

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Deborah was killed after she raised reservations on the use of the WhatsApp group created for studies for the propagation of religious sentiments. She was according to a source said to have also said that Jesus made her pass her exam.

The video of the killing showed one of her fellow male students bragging that he burnt her and was heard saying in Hausa, ‘see the matchbox I used to burn her.”

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the incident has touched raw nerves with condemnations of the killing of the lady spreading wide.

Initial accounts alleged that Deborah committed blasphemy by either verbally attacking Islam or Prophet Mohammed, but it has emerged that that was not the case.

Meanwhile, the Sultanate Council in its condemnation of the killing called for peace as it flayed what it described as an unfortunate incident.

A statement issued by Sa`idu Muhammadu Maccido, the secretary of the council, read in part:

The Sultanate Council has learnt with dismay the unfortunate happenings at the Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE) Sokoto that led to the loss of the life of a female student of the Institution.

The Sultanate Council condemned the incident in its totality and has urged the security agencies to bring perpetrators of the unjustifiable incident to justice.

The Sultanate Council has urged all to remain calm and ensure peaceful co-existence among all people of the State and nation.

The appeal nonetheless, a leading Lagos lawyer, Ebn-Olu Adegboruwa SAN has urged the Nigerian Bar Association to move all scheduled meetings of the association to move all forthcoming meetings out of Sokoto in protest at the violation of rights of the late Deborah by fellow students of the Shehu Shagari College of Education.
