Rebellion: Mum On Osinbajo, Tinubu Tells Lawan To Lick His Wounds
By Emmanuel Aziken
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has publicly remained mum on the challenge from his erstwhile political godson, Prof Yemi Osinbajo but has told another political rebel, Ahmad Lawan to go and lick his wounds.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports Vice President Osinbajo who was widely regarded as his political godson went with Tinubu into the last rounds of the APC presidential primary and lost the battle. Ahmad Lawan who was also helped by Tinubu to become the Senate President in 2019 was also another surprising challenger to Tinubu.
Speaking when he was called upon to receive the APC mandate, Tinubu said he was upset that Lawan competed with him for the APC presidential ticket as he mocked him on a miserable turnout.
“To the legislature, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, I would have been a little upset because you competed with me. But it is over now because you can easily lick your wounds,” Tinubu said.
Tinubu nevertheless appreciated the efforts that Lawan has made in his nearly 23 years in the National Assembly.
After telling Lawan to go lick his wounds, the public is now waiting on how Tinubu will reply to Osinbajo, who he appointed as a commissioner and subsequently joined in pushing his nomination as vice-president.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Tinubu topped the APC presidential primary with 1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants, including a former Transport Minister, Rotimi Ameachi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.
