The family of the former Anambra State physically-challenged lawmaker, Mr Nelson Achukwu, has cried out over his gruesome murder lamenting his fate after the payment of a N15m ransom when he was first kidnapped.

According to reports, the body was found between the boundary of Uke and Ukpor.

His body said to have been quickly buried on Tuesday because the corpse had started decomposing.

Recall that, Achukwu, a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly and a businessman, was kidnapped at gun point a few months ago and later released after the payment of N15m ransom.

Unfortunately, he was kidnapped a second time at his home in Ukpor on June 9, 2022.

A family source revealed that the late Achukwu confided in members of his family after his first release that the gunmen accused him of providing information to the military.

He also said he was released when the hoodlums found out that the allegations were false.

However, as at the time of this report, the reason for his second kidnap and murder is still unknown.

“We couldn’t believe he would be killed after we already paid the N15m ransom requested by his abductors,” the family member said.

This is the second gruesome murder hitting the Anambra legislature after the lawmaker representing Aguata North LGA in the state House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye, was beheaded by his abductors in May 2022.
