Fury As Atiku Drags Wike To God In New Year Eve Post

Stakeholders in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP were on New Year eve yelling after the Atiku Abubakar campaign brought God into the crisis in the party with an injunction on Governor Nyesom Wike to honour his vow made before the Almighty to support the winner of the presidential primary.

GWG.ng reports that Wike, who was an aspirant for the presidential ticket of the PDP had at the convention ground last May declared that he would support whoever emerged winner of the ticket.

However, following issues over the alleged deal between Governor Aminu Tambuwal and Atiku, and subsequently mutterings over the refusal of the party chairman, Senator Iyorcha Ayu to step down, Wike has gone back on his word and refused to give his support to Atiku.

Wike who is the leader of the G5 governors who have taken the same stand, has recently declared that the group would take a position on who to support and that the person would not be Atiku.

Dino Melaye, who is one of the spokesmen of the Atiku Campaign, however, further dragged the issue on New Year eve when he posted a video clip of Wike promising to support the winner of the PDP ticket and urged him to fulfil his vow supposedly made before God.

He said:

Nyeson Wike, Governor of Rivers State, promising to support anyone who wins PDP presidential primary . This integrity  statement is now facing an integrity test. Mr Governor, please honour your vow that was made before God and man because we shall all account for all vows made.

The post by the Atiku campaign spokesman invoking God in the dispute with Wike was followed with several reactions on New Year eve.

He is accountable to GOD, GOD has since forgiven him. So get on with ur life and move on. In 2015, Atiku committed a crime against the PDP, Nigeria and Nigerians. Has he asked Nigerians and Party faithfuls for forgiveness? Has he gone personally to PGEJ to seek his forgiveness?
