Months After Backlash From Peter Obi's Supporters, Pastor Poju Oyemade Returns with Another Tweet

Senior Pastor and Founder of The Covenant Nation (TCN), Pastor Poju Oyemade in a blank Twitter post on Friday said one of the characteristics of a wise man is his ability to build allies and not create enemies.

According to Pastor Oyemade, those who build know the fine details and today’s enemy may turn to be tomorrow’s ally.

“A wise man builds allies, doesn’t create enemies. A man once asked Abraham Lincoln why he wasn’t destroying his enemies, his answer was “have I not destroyed an enemy when I make him an ally” Those who build, know the fine details & today’s enemy may be tomorrow’s biggest ally,” he tweeted.

When questioned by a follower that ‘Jesus had enemies for calling out evil, Oyemade responded:

“The ultimate purpose of Christ coming wasn’t to talk to Pharisees but to die on the cross. One major aspect was to turn the enemies of God into his allies in what is called reconciliation. Eph 2:15-16 says, He abolished in his flesh the enmity reconciled having slain the enmity”

GWG.ng reports that while his tweet was not directed at anyone in particular, Oyemade had in 2022 been attacked by supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi over a twitter tread suggestive of his support for a particular candidate.

The criticisms began after the cleric shared a tweet many inferred was directed at Obi.

Oyemade had talked about the enthusiasm of youths which according to him, shouldn’t be wasted on poorly planned projects.

He also tweeted that Jesus said that “no man goes to battle without taking stock first nor laying the foundation of a tower”.

The tweets came after many politicians have argued that Obi will not win the 2023 presidential election because he lacks ‘political structure’

However, despite that Pastor Poju did not mention Obi’s name, the supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate took offence to the cleric’s message.

And following the backlash he received, the cleric deleted his tweets.

Oyemade’s ministry was founded in 1994 and headquartered in Lagos Nigeria, where he oversees a dynamic community of believers who attend any of its services every week or join in on its online platforms.
