Teenager Allegedly Steals Vitaform Mattress, Docked

A teenager,  Kenneth Williams,  was on Tuesday docked  in an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State for allegedly stealing a Vitafoam mattress worth N128,000.

The police charged Williams with four counts of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, house breaking and theft.

The offence, the police said, contravened the provisions of sections 58, 327, 332 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Esther Bishen told the court that Christopher Onu, the complainant reported the matter at the station on April 28.

Bishen said the complainant discovered that he was shop was broken into and a Vitafoam mattress worth N128, 000 was stolen.

She said during investigations, the police discovered that the defendant and two others, at large, committed the crime. Williams pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the police prove its case against the defendant.

The judge, George Gwani, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum. Gwani adjourned the matter until June 5 for hearing.

GWG.ng reports that the docking of the teenager over the alleged theft of a Vitafoam mattress came in the trail of the upsurge of bandit attacks in the state.
