Prominent Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has voiced her concerns on Twitter regarding the alarming surge in the dollar to Naira exchange rate.

The exchange rate has reached a staggering N920 per dollar in the parallel market. Yesufu expressed her frustration in a video, where she lamented that those who believed they had avoided a crisis now find themselves amidst an even greater catastrophe.

Addressing the governmental policies responsible for the exchange rate turmoil, Yesufu highlighted the precarious situation. She emphasized that life’s challenges affect everyone, and haphazard policies without clear direction are compounding the economic crisis.

Aisha Yesufu painted a grim picture of the potential future, suggesting that if the trend continues, the Naira could depreciate further to N1000 against the dollar, or even more direly to N2000.

In her analysis, Yesufu criticized the notion of competence being gauged by the extent to which one’s successor performs poorly. She urged for thoughtful and strategic decision-making in the nation’s interest, even if it comes with initial hardships.

The activist cautioned that enduring hardship without well-defined plans and coherent policies could exacerbate the current challenges.
