Peter Obi has taken the gauntlet and asked President Bola Tinubu to personally give a clarification about his true identity in order to clear doubts as concerning himself, his education and his career.

Speaking at a world press conference in Abuja, Obi said that issues from the Chicago court deposition and allegations of forgery have now worsened the fate of many Nigerians and Nigeria as a country in the global community.

He thus urged Tinubu to come out personally and clear doubts himself and not assign the duty to surrogates or spokespersons.

Obi who drew questions following the press conference mentioned the former Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, and Governor Chukwuma Soludo among others as his classmates.

He thus asked Tinubu to do likewise and save Nigeria and Nigerians from the ridicule he said had been thrown out about his identity.

Noting that the issue had further worsened Nigeria’s less than glorious image internationally, Obi at the World Press Conference on Tinubu’s identity, said:

“Uninformed outsiders now see every Nigerian as a fraudster, certificate forger or identity theif.

“The controversy is unnecessary just as the implicit global embarrassment could have been avoided. In my opinion, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu should have saved the nation and himself this protracted embarrassment and undue anxiety. Even in this late in the day, however, Chief Ahmed Bola Tinubu still owes the nation and the world a simple obligation only he can discharge.

“I therefore respectfully and humbly call on him to immediately personally mount the rostrum of his present high office to perform a simple task of once and for all times; he should reintroduce himself to the nation he governs and to the world for the avoidance of further doubts.

“He should let the world know his name, his nationality, his place of birth, his parentage, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates as well as the actual universities he attended and the certificates he obtained.

“He should indicate clearly where and when he did his national youth service. In addition if at any time if he had a change of name, he should say clearly and the circumstances. That itself is no crime.

“This is a simple task that will take only few minutes. It requires no affidavit, spokespersons or surrogates. The task is one that only Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself through a direct personal statement can perform. He must perform this task urgently in order to lay to rest the many lingering doubts and speculations about his true identity.”
