Atiku on coalition against APC

Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, has expressed his readiness to lead a coalition of opposition parties with the aim of displacing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Atiku conveyed this commitment in a congratulatory message addressed to PDP governors whose elections were upheld by the Supreme Court.

In a statement released by his media office in Abuja, Atiku celebrated the court’s decision as a victory for constitutional democracy, especially for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Cross River, and Zamfara states. He also extended his congratulations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, who belongs to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), emphasizing the importance of a united opposition force in strengthening democracy in Nigeria.

Atiku’s determination to lead this coalition was evident in his statement: “I am as prepared as ever to lead the charge, alongside all our leaders and governors, for the good of our country.” He expressed gratitude for the justice rendered by the Supreme Court, recognizing it as a crucial factor in upholding democratic standards.

The PDP presidential candidate highlighted the Supreme Court’s verdict as a guarantee for the continuation of good governance standards established by the PDP in the respective states. Atiku urged the victorious PDP governors—Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Barr. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom—to view their wins as opportunities to consolidate and expand the scope of good governance.

With the electoral phase concluded, Atiku is confident that the PDP can now focus on its role as the major opposition party in the country. He expressed certainty that, alongside the capable PDP governors, the party will play a pivotal role in the nation’s political landscape.
