More Nigerians are mourning the death of Nigerian-born Ivory Coast-based billionaire, High Chief Osondu Nwoye who slumped in the stadium while watching the Nigeria South Africa match last Wednesday.

GWG.ng reports that Chief Nwoye is among five Nigerians who reportedly died watching the match between Nigeria and South Africa last Wednesday.

The Ivory Coast based Nigerian billionaire cum philanthropist it was gathered had made plans to host visiting Nigerian journalists on a tour of Abidjan, the Ivory Coast capital on Friday ahead of the final match on Sunday.

Chief Osondu Nwoye who spoke to Arise News TV ahead of the semi-final match with South Africa had predicted that Nigeria would win the cup saying that there was no team to stop Nigeria.

Unfortunately, he slumped while watching the match inside the stadium and eventually died in the hospital.

Speaking before his death, Osondu Nwoye had predicted thus:

ā€œ(We) are expecting nothing less than victory. I can say that we are 180 minutes to lifting the cup because I donā€™t see anybodyā€¦ Eagles are now unstoppable, nobody can stop them.

ā€œWhen you read football, when you understand football, you will understand that Eagles are the team to beat now. In the matches they played, till now they conceded only but one goal. Not just the victory, you will see how confident, how organised they are in the defence and all departments of the team are super.

ā€œThe goalkeeper is one of the best in this tournament and the defence is the best conceding only one goal in this tournament.ā€

Many Nigerians have since been mourning the death of High Chief Osondu Nwoye with some lamenting the grief of dying in adulation for Nigeria despite the present difficulties in the land.

Among those who have paid tribute to the memory of Nwoye and others who died because of the match are the Super Eagles players who on Thursday evening had a one-minute silence in memory of those who died.
