Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has opened up about his financial struggles during his last UFC fights, revealing that Nigerian Nightmare Kamaru Usman loaned him $200,000 before his final bout. Ngannou reportedly paid off the loan after earning from his recent boxing match with Anthony Joshua.

While Joshua earned around $50 million from their bout, Ngannou reportedly earned $20 million, a significant increase from his previous earnings in the octagon. During an appearance on the “Pound 4 Pound” show hosted by Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo, Ngannou disclosed that he made just $600,000 for his final UFC fight in January 2022, despite being the marquee fight on the card.

Ngannou turned down a contract renewal offer from the UFC and opted for free agency, despite facing scrutiny for demanding higher pay. He revealed that he was offered almost 10 times more than what he received for his last UFC fight but declined, stating that he believed he deserved more. He acknowledged owing Usman $200,000 at the time and admitted to being broke.

Ngannou’s decision to pursue boxing in 2022 paid off, as he faced two of the world’s best boxers, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Despite a swift knockout by Joshua, Ngannou’s earnings from the fight surpassed his entire UFC career earnings, prompting questions about his future in boxing.
