“Obidients” Lambast Abia Governor For Collecting Donations From Erisco Foods

Labour Party Supporters popularly called, ‘Obidients’ have taken to their official X handles to Lambast Governor Alex Otti of Abia State after he collected boxes of tomato paste and seasoning cube gifts from Erisco Foods boss, Eric Umeofia.

According to the Erisco foods, the gifts were meant to help alleviate the sufferings of the people of Abia State amidst the hardship in the country.

In the past few weeks, Eric Umeofia has been trolled on X by many Nigerians for his alleged bullying of Chioma Engodi, a lady who did a negative review of his product in September 2023. 

On Friday, Erisco Foods came under the scrutiny of Obidients again after the company took to its official X handle to tweet an update on his visit to Governor Otti, with pictures.

The tweet read,  “Erisco Foods Limited has moved to cushion the effects of rising food prices, by donating cartons of Erisco Tomato Paste and seasoning cubes, to the good people of Abia State. We are honoured to have the unwavering support of the People’s Governor, his excellency, Dr. Alex Otti.”

The tweet angered Obidients who immediately took to their official X handle to express their displeasure against the governor’s action. See some reactions from Obedients on X:

“Governor @alexottiofr should know better that Eric Umeofia is seeking validation. This is all a PR tactic to drown the voices of Nigerians calling him out for impunity!

“Nigerian politicians must learn not to stand in the way of the people because of a few boxes of tomato paste and maggi! Alex Otti shouldn’t have agreed to this photoshoot!”

 @AlamutuOla opined, “I think this a confirmation that Erisco Foods is struggling to mitigate the impact his action and inaction has created for his brand. Something he did not do when @alexottiofr was sworn in as governor, now he needs him to remedy the already rotten public acceptance of his product.”
