Senator Bashiru Ajibola, the national secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC has sparked widespread criticism from Nigerians after dismissing the inflation statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

During a popular TV program hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the APC scribe refuted the NBS inflation figures, claiming he does not believe in their accuracy. This denial came even as Okinbaloye presented the statistics live on air.

While Senator Ajibola acknowledged the unfavorable economic situation, he insisted that the government is actively working to address the issues despite the inflation figures presented by the NBS. This statement comes at a time when many Nigerians are struggling to afford even one square meal, leading to a planned protest by Nigerian youths set for August 1st.

The senator’s remarks have not been well-received by the public. Many Nigerians took to the comment sections to criticize his stance, questioning the quality of leadership he provides. Critics argue that Ajibola’s dismissal of the NBS figures is an attempt to support his party and downplay the severity of the economic crisis.

Netizens expressed their frustration, suggesting that the senator is out of touch with the realities faced by ordinary Nigerians. The backlash highlights the growing discontent among citizens regarding the government’s handling of the economy.

Read some netizens’ reactions below to the claims of Senator Ajibola on inflation;

@bruzeee: They’re insulated from the street, una dey see them for your streets? these guys can never relate with what is going on the street.

@adeyemi: Under any circumstances, This Ajibola will never be a Governor in my State. See how he’s embarrassing himself and his party on National TV
What a Shame ☹️

@yemisikolaa: Seun, he says he doesn’t agree with the figure. No need to force it down on him.

Go the route of listing individual prices of things from before Tinubu came into power and what it is now and let’s see if he won’t agree with this as well.

You would have knocked him off with that.
