The management of Bovas and Company Limited has suspended a station manager at one of its Ibadan outlets following an incident involving the alleged use of an herbalist to resolve a theft case.

Bovas announced the suspension of the fuel station manager on Sunday, citing the need for a comprehensive investigation into the manager’s actions in resorting to a herbalist which it deemed “inappropriate and unauthorized.”

This follows GWG.ng reports that the fuel station manager, in a bid to address the disappearance of a substantial amount of money, led staff members to a local herbalist to identify the culprit. The move quickly sparked outrage online, with many criticizing the unconventional approach taken by the manager.

In a statement, Bovas acknowledged that the fuel station manager took staff to a herbalist and reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity. The company emphasized that the actions taken by the manager do not reflect its core values.

“At Bovas and Company Limited, we pride ourselves on upholding the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and integrity in all our operations. We are deeply committed to fostering an environment where both our customers and employees are treated with respect, fairness, and dignity,” the statement read.

The company expressed strong disapproval of the manager’s actions, stating: “Bovas and Company Limited categorically condemns this act and dissociates itself from any behavior that contradicts our core values of integrity, transparency, honesty, and professionalism.”

Bovas confirmed that the fuel station manager has been suspended, and an internal investigation is underway over the decision to resort to a herbalist. The company assured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures will be enforced in line with its policies and Nigerian law.

“We remain committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct across all our locations. Our station attendants and managers are regularly trained on the importance of integrity and due process; we do not condone any actions that compromise this trust,” Bovas added.

The company also highlighted its commitment to employee safety and customer trust, reassuring the public that the incident was an isolated one.

“We value our employees’ safety and our customers’ trust and loyalty and will continue to uphold the principles that have made us a leading and reliable name in the downstream oil and gas sector.”

Bovas concluded the statement by thanking the public for their continued support and understanding, reaffirming its dedication to integrity and professionalism in its operations.
