Ugo Nwokolo on poor women

The current Mr. Nigeria, Ugo Nwokolo, has sparked considerable attention after revealing his preference for women without money.

During an appearance on the Honest Bunch podcast, hosted by Nedu and his co-hosts, the Nigerian model shared his reasons for being attracted to women from less privileged backgrounds. The video quickly went viral, generating a range of reactions from social media users.

In the podcast, Ugo expressed that he finds poorer women particularly appealing. He stated, “Poor girls turn me on. The poorer the girl, the more attracted I am to her.” He explained that these women display qualities that he finds attractive, such as waking up early to pray for their partners. According to him, a poor woman is more likely to dedicate herself to supporting her partner through prayer and spiritual devotion, saying, “It’s only a poor woman that will wake up by 7 am, pray for you, NSPPD online, and say what God cannot do doesn’t exist.” He also highlighted that poor women tend to be very fertile, claiming that “when it comes to fertility, poor women can be so fertile.”

His remarks quickly caught the attention of social media users, who shared a wide range of responses. Some users found his comments amusing, while others criticized his perspective. One user, “meek_kirls,” humorously wrote, “She is happy for you until she decides to bite the hand that helped her. Your eye go open!” Another, “gylliananthonette,” reflected on the irony of men who express a preference for independent women online but prefer those who are more dependent in real life, saying, “I always said it that na online most men day like independent lady, offline they like a dependent they can do anyhow.”

There were also users who felt Ugo was seeking a partner to control, with one comment reading, “Just say, you are looking for a maid.” Others challenged his generalizations, with “livingstone_de_cornerstone” suggesting that Ugo’s comments reveal a mindset that views women as easily manipulated, not as equal partners.

Despite the criticisms, some followers found humor in his remarks. However, many others questioned the deeper implications of such views, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and equality in relationships. Ugo Nwokolo’s comments have not only prompted a debate about personal preferences in relationships but also sparked broader conversations about gender dynamics, stereotypes, and societal expectations in dating.

As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how Ugo’s comments will affect his image and the wider conversation about relationships and societal attitudes toward women.
