Bomb Explosion In Chibok Claims Multiple Lives
By Benjamin Abioye

A tragic incident occurred in Sikarkur village, Chibok Local Government Area, Borno State, where a vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED) believed to have been planted by ISWAP, a faction of Boko Haram.
The explosion resulted in multiple deaths, including a mother and her child, and left several others injured. Nearby structures and the vehicle were severely damaged and set ablaze.
Local reports revealed that the device was likely intended to target military patrols in the area. A villager shared, “Yesterday, Boko Haram set a trap bomb for soldiers, but sadly, a civilian vehicle ran over it, killing many, including a mother and her baby. Her sister and others are receiving treatment at Chibok General Hospital.”

This incident follows another violent attack by the terror group on two communities in Chibok, where they killed residents, burned a church, and destroyed homes. Chibok has faced recurring violence since the 2014 abduction of 276 schoolgirls by Boko Haram, which drew global attention.
In recent years, ISWAP has gained strength, particularly after the death of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau. The group has recruited many former Boko Haram fighters and continues to wreak havoc in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, leading to widespread displacement and loss of lives.
