4 Kidnappers Sent To Hell As Police Foil Abduction On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway
By Gideon Ayeni

The Ogun State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Warewa axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, neutralizing four suspected kidnappers in a fierce gun battle.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, the Ogun police command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, praised the swift response of the police operatives, which prevented what could have been a tragic incident.
According to the report, the attack occurred on Friday night when the armed men ambushed a white Paragon commercial vehicle with registration number BDG 753 YH, driven by one Mr. Morufu Adedeji, who was heading toward Lagos. The kidnappers forcefully halted the vehicle at gunpoint, robbing passengers while attempting to abduct some of them.
However, the driver, displaying quick thinking and bravery, managed to unlock the rear door, allowing several passengers to escape. This enraged the assailants, who then assaulted him until he lost consciousness. Alerted by distressed motorists, the Anti-Kidnapping Team on patrol quickly intervened, engaging the criminals in a gun duel.
“Four of the armed men were fatally injured, while others managed to escape into the forest with gunshot wounds. Their bodies have been deposited at the State Hospital Morgue, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, for autopsy and further investigation,” Odutola stated.
Items recovered from the scene included a locally made pistol with two cartridges, two daggers, ₦20,000 in cash, a Tecno Android phone, a solar power bank, and three USB lights suspected to have been stolen.
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has reinforced security measures along the route, deploying more tactical operatives and increasing patrols in Arepo and other identified flashpoints to safeguard residents and commuters.
The police urged the public, especially medical practitioners, to report any individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds, as efforts to track down the fleeing suspects continue.
