VDM Mercy Chinwo Law Suit

Social media critic VeryDarkMan has broken his silence after a court has issued an arrest warrant against him over his case with Mercy Chinwo, alleging a plot to silence him.

Nigerian social media critic, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has spoken out following reports that a court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest.

In a fiery video response, VDM accused the judiciary of being used to suppress his voice, vowing to expose those allegedly manipulating the system against him.

In his statement, VDM claimed that the judiciary was being influenced to silence him, saying,
“The judiciary cannot shut me down. Instead, I will expose all those paying for it. I will expose all those forum-shopping judges and their illegal orders.”

He questioned how multiple cases against him could be assigned to the same magistrate on a single day, alleging a coordinated effort to target him. He also expressed shock at the arrest order, stating that his lawyer had informed the court of his absence from Nigeria at the time the case was filed.

“My lawyer told the court that I was not in Nigeria when the case was filed. I have never missed a court date. Yet, on the first day of hearing, they ordered my arrest—without even giving me a grace period to appear,” he said.

VDM further suggested that the case had been compromised from the start, citing alleged connections between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecutor and gospel singer Mercy Chinwo’s husband.

“The EFCC prosecutor has done two shows with Mercy Chinwo’s husband. The zonal chairman in charge of the case is a pastor in the same church as the prosecutor. The judge who initially handled the case followed Mercy Chinwo on Instagram before recusing himself. To me, this is not a coincidence,” he argued.

Despite the arrest warrant, VDM remained defiant, insisting that he would return to Nigeria and face the situation head-on.

“I am coming to Nigeria. If they arrest me, fine. But it won’t change the fact that this case is compromised. The truth remains the truth.”

Mixed Reactions From Nigerians
VDM’s response sparked widespread reactions on social media, with opinions sharply divided.

Some users supported his stance, praising his courage:

“I love VDM’s boldness.” – @African_unifier
“This man is just another prophet of God.” – @AbiodunOlorire
“VDM ain’t real; the courage is out of this world!” – @Daveed_orado
However, many others criticized him for his approach:

“Oga go to court and stop the manipulation. Instagram is not a court, mugu.” – @Binance181373
“If the court ordered his arrest, there must be serious allegations. He should be held accountable if guilty.” – @Sundayjctrucks
“Now you know how much people hate you. VDM, you are irrelevant.” – @innoja7
Some questioned why Mercy Chinwo had taken the matter online before approaching the court:

“Mercy Chinwo saw the court to take her promoters to but decided to bring the matter online. In the Supreme Court of the streets, everyone is a judge.” – @Street__lawyer
Despite the controversy, VDM remains resolute, insisting that he will expose what he perceives as an abuse of power in the case against him.

The legal battle between him and Mercy Chinwo continues to unfold, keeping Nigerians engaged in heated debates over justice, influence, and the power of social media.
