Eid el-Kabir Public Holiday

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The announcement ushers a 4-day holiday for most workers starting on Saturday.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.

Congratulating Muslims across the country on the successful completion of Ramadan, Tunji-Ojo urged them to uphold the virtues of self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, which define the holy month. He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and unity in fostering a harmonious society, calling on all Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity in the nation.

The Minister also encouraged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly while extending kindness to the less privileged, in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr. He expressed hope that the occasion would strengthen unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic lines, fostering a sense of national togetherness.

On behalf of the Federal Government, Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak, praying that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to all Nigerians.
