Police Officer Retaliation Uromi Killing

The Police have vowed to take action against an officer in Kaduna,Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, who threatened retaliation over the killing of northerners in Uromi, Edo State.

The Nigerian Police Force has promised to take appropriate action against an officer in Kaduna State, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, after he allegedly threatened reprisal attacks following the killing of some northerners in Edo State.

Dan-Taki, reacting to the recent lynching of 16 travelers from northern Nigeria in Uromi, Edo State, made a controversial statement on Facebook. He vowed that northerners would retaliate against southerners living in the North.

In his post, he swore by God that action would be taken, writing, “I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers that are living here in the North? Mark my words, after one week, you shall see the result.”

Following widespread criticism of his statement, Dan-Taki altered his first name on Facebook and restricted public access to his posts and comments.

A user on 𝕏, with the handle UcheDIgboezeson, later shared a screenshot of Dan-Taki’s post and called the attention of the Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urging him to take action.

Responding to the post by Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, Adejobi assured that the matter was noted and necessary steps would be taken. “Noted for necessary action. Thanks,” he replied.

Meanwhile, the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has emphasized the need for justice regarding the incident. He revealed that during a visit from Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, he stressed that those responsible for the killings must face the law.

In a statement shared on his 𝕏 handle, Jibrin appreciated the Governor’s efforts but urged him to ensure that justice is fully served. “Those responsible for the killing must be brought to justice,” he stated.
