Oborevwori New Head of Service Oseji

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has officially sworn in Minnie Oseji as the new Head of Service, using the opportunity to report on significant successes against kidnapping in the State.

The ceremony took place on Thursday at the Government House in Asaba. Alongside this, Oborevwori also inaugurated Mr. Austin Igbine as the Chairman of the Board for Delta Printing and Publishing Company, the publisher of ‘The Pointer’ newspaper.

In his speech, Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Delta State. He highlighted the progress being made by security forces in tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes. He also emphasized the importance of proactive measures and operational strategies in combating crime.

The governor acknowledged the ongoing challenges but assured that they are manageable, praising the efforts of the security agencies. He said, “As the Chief Security Officer of the state, I am aware of the several successes the security agencies have recorded – and keep making – in the fight against kidnapping and other forms of violent crimes.” However, he also noted that it would not be productive to disclose specific security measures publicly. “But, please, be assured that they are unrelenting, and, as a government, we have continued to strengthen our partnership by providing them with the necessary tools and resources they need to be effective in their operations,” he added.

Oborevwori urged citizens to play an active role in maintaining peace and security by reporting suspicious activities to the authorities. He stated, “It is axiomatic that security is a shared responsibility.” He encouraged the public to work together with law enforcement, reminding them that “our law enforcement personnel are not clairvoyants, their success is largely dependent on the information they receive from the public.”

In his address, the governor congratulated Oseji on her appointment, praising her for her exemplary work ethic, professionalism, and dedication. He emphasized that her decades of experience in management and leadership would help her excel in the new role. “Her strong work ethic, sincerity of purpose, and professionalism are, indeed, worthy of emulation,” he said.

Oborevwori also urged Oseji to continue addressing issues such as absenteeism, lateness, unethical conduct, and poor maintenance culture within the civil service. He emphasized the importance of aligning with the government’s policy direction and offering honest, impartial advice for the successful execution of government projects. “This administration is determined to leave the legacy of an efficient, disciplined, and performance-driven civil service,” he added.

In her response, Oseji expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity and the trust placed in her. She pledged to continue working to enhance the integrity and professionalism within the state’s civil service. Oseji also committed to supporting civil servants in adhering to financial regulations and aligning with the governor’s M.O.R.E Agenda.

The governor also congratulated Igbine on his appointment, expressing confidence that under his leadership, ‘The Pointer’ newspaper would achieve new levels of editorial quality, production excellence, and enhanced digital operations.
