Manchester United Onana Replacement

Amid Andre Onana’s recent struggles, Manchester United are actively exploring a potential replacement for the goalkeeper, with discussions already taking place behind the scenes.

Manchester United have reportedly opened discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt over a possible transfer for young Brazilian goalkeeper, Kaua Santos.

Just months ago, Kaua was playing for Frankfurt’s reserve team in Germany’s fourth division. Now, the 22-year-old has quickly risen through the ranks and caught the attention of top European clubs with his recent performances.

Kaua stepped up in the absence of Frankfurt’s captain and first-choice keeper, Kevin Trapp, delivering solid performances, especially in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur. His display in that 1-1 draw reportedly sparked interest from United, with German outlet SPORT BILD revealing that initial talks took place during the match in London.

It is said that Christopher Vivell, United’s recruitment expert, had discussions with his counterpart at Frankfurt regarding a possible deal for Kaua. Tottenham’s technical director, Johan Lange, was also reportedly part of the conversation.

Vivell’s interest in the goalkeeper reportedly started earlier in the season, when Kaua made his senior debut in September while Trapp was out injured. Aware of growing interest, Frankfurt acted quickly in October to extend Kaua’s contract and increased his salary by 50 percent. The new deal is said to include a release clause of €60 million (£51.4 million).

Despite the growing attention, Frankfurt appear determined to keep their rising star. “We will definitely not sell Kaua in the summer,” said sporting director Markus Krosche.

Kaua, who stands at 6 feet 6 inches with an impressive wingspan, is expected to keep his place as Frankfurt’s starting goalkeeper even after Trapp recovers. His potential has made him one to watch, whether he stays in Germany or moves elsewhere in the near future.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s current goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has faced a tough spell recently, with rumors suggesting that the club is looking into new options. However, financial limitations may force the team to focus on strengthening other areas first. Still, if the need arises again next year, Kaua Santos could return to the top of United’s list.
