EFCC: Ex-Speaker, Patricia Etteh Released On Bail, Investigation Ongoing

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has released Mrs Patricia Olubunmi Etteh, former Speaker of the House of Representatives on bail.

According to reports, Mrs Patricia was released on Friday night after bail conditions offered to her by investigators working on her case were fulfilled.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, disclosed that she is expected to report to the agency when needed to assist with further investigations.

GWGNG recalls that the former speaker was arrested on 17th May over allegations of fraudulent involvement with Phil Jin Projects Limited.

Sources revealed that Phil Jin Projects Limited was granted a contract by the NDDC for the supply of solar-powered street lights in some communities in Akwa Ibom and had received N287m, for a contract worth N240m.

Phil Jin Project Ltd later paid N130m to Patricia Etteh.

The EFCC questioned why the former speaker received such amount of money when she is not a director of the company.

GWGNG that the news that former Speaker Etteh was released on bail from EFCC custody reignited news reports on her removal as the presiding officer of the House of Representatives following reports of a contract scam in the House.
