Super TV CEO: Why Police Freed Suspect’s Dad
The Police in Lagos have released the father of 21-year-old student of the University of Lagos, who allegedly stabbed the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, to death.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu confirmed the release of the father in an interview with The Punch. Besides the father of Chidinma Ojukwu who is the prime suspect in the reported murder, the Odumosu also said that one Nkechi Mogbo who works at the service apartment where the Super TV CEO met his end.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Chidinma Ojukwu’s father was held for allegedly blocking the policemen who came to pick his daughter last Wednesday.
It would be recalled that Chidinma Ojukwu confessed to the crime of killing the Super TV CEO when she was paraded by the police.
Explaining why the police released the suspect’s father and Mogbo, Odumosu said:
“Chidinma’s statement exonerated her father as she said that he was not aware of the incident. We released him.
“Also, the lady in our custody, one Mrs Nkechi Mogbo, who leased the flat from the property owner and used it for a service apartment, has been released on bail.
“After Magbo was arrested, she assisted the police because of the information she gave us. Now that we got the principal suspect, and the fact that the principal suspect confessed that she singularly committed the act, and equally went further to explain that she never met Nkechi Mogbo, but that she only phoned her and that they transacted all the business online, I have ordered her release on bail while we continue our investigation,” the police boss said of the continuing probe into the death of the Super TV CEO.
“However, if any other thing during the investigation points to her, bail is not the end of the case and we will bring her back,” the Police boss said in justifying the release of the father of the suspect behind the killing of the Super TV CEO.
