Atiku Abubakar has expressed outrage over reports that the United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had telephone discussion with the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu towards working together at the advent of the new administration.

Atiku expressed his outrage as Akin Osuntokun, director-general of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign said that the US would talk with the devil so long as it would bring stability to geopolitical trends.

GWG.ng reports that Tunde Rahman, the media aide of the president-elect had given a clue as to the discussion between Tinubu and Blinken that took place on Tuesday.

But responding in a tweet late on Wednesday, Atiku Abubakar said:

I am in disbelief that @SecBlinken called Tinubu, a contradiction to the publicly stated position of the US on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election. This is inconceivable considering that America, as the bastion of democracy, is well briefed on the sham election of February 25. To give legitimacy to the widely acknowledged fraudulent election in Nigeria can be demoralising to citizens who have hedged their bet on democracy and the sanctity of the ballot @StateDept @POTUS @USinNigeria  -AA

Speaking in an interview when asked to react to the Atiku tweet on the Blinken phone call with Tinubu, Osuntokun said that the United States was only trying to protect it’s interests and ensure stability in the polity.

“They are masters of ambiguity and would not mind dining with the devil. They are so much concerned with stability even if the devil is the president,” Osuntokun said during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
