NIMC Announces Partnership With Banks To Distribute National ID Card
The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing the distribution of the upcoming national ID card. In a move designed to enhance efficiency and convenience, the commission has forged a strategic collaboration with Nigerian banks to streamline the process of accessing ID cards.
Under this innovative arrangement, individuals will no longer be required to visit specific ID card centers but can instead collect their cards from their local banks. This transformative partnership between NIMC and the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) is poised to redefine how Nigerians obtain their ID cards, making the process more accessible and convenient for citizens across the nation.
The integration of national ID cards into the existing protocols for issuing debit/credit cards by banks promises a seamless experience for applicants. Through various channels such as the self-service online portal, NIMC offices, or their respective banks, individuals can now request their cards, which will be seamlessly linked with their National Identification Number (NIN).
This pioneering approach will leverage the AFRIGO card scheme, a domestic system empowered by NIBSS, to ensure efficiency and reliability in card distribution. Moreover, applicants will enjoy the flexibility of choosing between collecting their cards from designated centers or opting for delivery to their preferred location, albeit at an additional cost borne by the applicants.
By introducing this groundbreaking initiative, NIMC aims to simplify the ID card issuance process, ultimately making it more accessible and convenient for all Nigerians.
