Nationwide Protest: Oba Of Benin Takes Stand

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewaure II, has made his stand known concerning the planned nationwide protest slated for August 1, 2024 in Nigeria.

GWG.ng reports that the monarch’s stance was made known in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Osaigbovo Iguobaro.

According to the statement, the Oba appealed to Nigerian youths to shelve the planned protest.  

The paramount Ruler further appealed to aggrieved Nigerians to give the Federal Government enough time to implement its economic policies which are expected to alleviate the present hardship.

The Monarch also appealed to the federal government to intensify efforts in the implementation of its economic and security policies.

Oba Ewuare therefore advised those that are planning the nationwide protest to shelve the plan and give Tinubu-led-government more time for his policies to materialize.

The statement read, “Arising from the emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN), held in Abuja on Monday, 22nd July, 2024, the Omo N’Oba wishes to appeal to the general public to give the Federal Government enough time to implement its economic policy that will alleviate the present hardship being experienced by Nigerians. For things to get better, it has to be rough for a while.

The Omo N’Oba therefore appeals to those that are planning the August 1st Nationwide protest to shelve the plan. The Omo N’Oba also appeals to the Federal Government to intensify efforts in the implementation of its economic and security policies.”

GWG.ng earlier reported that the  proposed nationwide Protest is slated for 10 days begining from August 1. 

The aim of the protest according to the organizers, is to raise voice against hunger and hardship witnessed across the country.
