Nigerians Grumble Over Tinubu’s Leaked Speech
By Emmanuel Aziken
The long-expected speech by President Bola Tinubu to address the nationwide protest leaked to the shock of many who say that it did not renew their hope
Mixed opinion was on Sunday morning trailing the leaked broadcast speech by President Bola Tinubu to assuage the ongoing nationwide protest against biting policies of his administration.
GWG.ng reports that one of the most outstanding developments that preceded the speech was that it leaked hours before President Tinubu delivered the speech.
It was about the worst leaks of a presidential broadcast in Nigeria with Omoyele Sowore, one of the leading organisers of the #EndBadGovernance Campaign being among the first to leak it on social media about six hours before delivery.
Posting the leaked speech that was broadcast hours prior to its delivery by President Tinubu, Sowore said:
Sowore subsequently titled the speech as Beautiful Nonsense.
Many other Nigerians took to X, formerly known as Twitter to give their reactions.
While a large majority expressed concern that the leaked speech did not contain any fundamentals to address the agitation against bad governance, there were a few exceptions who took offence with the criticisms against President Tinubu.
GWG.ng gathered some of the reactions:
Positive King alleging that Tinubu has wicked advisers who did not care about his legacy, posted thus:
A supporter of the administration, however, would not have any of the insults as he replied thus:
However, insisting on the wickedness of the administration, the X user replied to the Tinubu supporter thus:
Affirming that there was no positive outflow from the speech another X user posted thus:
However, supporters of the administration would not allow Sowore rest with one replying with a personal attack on the Saharareporters publisher:
While some averred that the leaked speech was fake, many were surprised to see that the exact speech posted by Sowore six hours prior was what was broadcast by Tinubu.
Meanwhile, the presidency was yet to respond to the leaked speech of the president.
