In Rush To Uproot Wike’s Structure, Fubara Sets To Swear In LG Chairmen, Sunday Evening
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will officially swear in the newly elected local government chairmen today, following their successful election on Saturday.
The announcement that Governor Fubara would swear in the newly elected local government chairmen was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, in a statement released on Sunday. The swearing-in ceremony is set to take place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Port Harcourt, at 4 p.m.
This move follows the conclusion of the Rivers State local government elections, where the Action Peoples Party (APP) won 22 out of 23 local government areas. The results were declared by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.
The statement from the SSG reads:
“His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, Governor of Rivers State, will today, Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4 p.m.”
It further instructed that the newly elected chairmen, accompanied by one guest each, should be seated by 3:30 p.m. for the ceremony.
This marks an important step in Governor Fubara’s administration as the local governments gear up for a fresh term under the leadership of the newly elected chairmen.
GWG.ng reports that the decision to swear-in the new local government chairmen would mark the entrenchment of a new political order in the grassroots in Rivers State with a new order not aligned to the immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike.
