Bwala Not Ajuri Ngelale’s Successor – Presidency
President Bola Tinubu has reshuffled his media and communications team, reassigning Daniel Bwala and Sunday Dare to new roles barely days after being named as special advisers.
Bwala, previously Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, now serves as Special Adviser on Policy Communication. Meanwhile, Dare, who held the position of Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication.
GWG.ng reports that with the development the presidency has disowned Bwala’s claim that he was a replacement for Ajuri Ngelale, the erstwhile head of the president’s media team.
This realignment reflects Tinubu’s effort to enhance the efficiency of his communications strategy. Alongside Bayo Onanuga, who remains Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the trio will collectively act as spokespersons for the presidency.
The shake-up follows Bwala’s recent assertion that he had taken over the role of presidential spokesperson, previously held by Ajuri Ngelale, who resigned in September.
In clarifying his role, Bwala remarked:
“There is no issue as to the differences in terms of the responsibility; everybody knows his responsibility. I only came to introduce myself to you and the role that was given to me by Mr. President. I told you that role was once occupied by Ajuri Ngelale. But for God’s sake, we are all colleagues. We are not particularly bothered about who is this, who is that. We are working to achieve the mandate of Mr. President.”
